The Auditor-General’s Office assists the Auditor-General fulfill his statutory obligations to audit the accounts and records of Government entities.
The majority of audit staff have a degree in accounting, economics or commerce and a number have masters degrees. Some staff have professional qualifications such as a member of the Certified Practising Accountants in PNG, and a number of staff are studying to become professionally qualified. The AGO encourages its staff to undertake such study by way of assisting with the payment of course fees and study support.
